Cuddles Daycare held it's first Tea/Etiquette party
Tea Time
Henry C. Rogers (American public relations expert) said “If manners were an animal, it would be an endangered species”. Those words were written 29 years ago and the problem still persists. Mrs. Rhonda at Cuddles in-home daycare in Twinsburg would like to see the young women in her care to grow up and be ladies. She said “I thought that it would be nice to teach them some old fashioned values and let them have fun while doing it. Manners are considered to be a lost art. It was noted that people tend to display proper etiquette around the Holidays, for important events, and to impress others. However, I want them to know that if they show good manners all the time, they will be respected at home, in school, and in the community”. The children will have a tea party style luncheon complete with a Victorian style theme. They will discuss why manners are important in everyday living, at the meal table, and while engaging in conversation. (Article written for the Twinsburg Bulletin).
Here were some of the days events!!
The ladies were announced as the royal court and escorted to their seats by Armondo Robinson, Cehlan Sparks, and Angelo Smith. We engaged in a Q & A discussion on why manners are so important and how they can be role models for other young ladies. They watched a video on how to show proper manners while dining and how to set the table. Appetizers were served, followed by lunch and tea. It really was warm apple cider, Shhhhh!! The sugar cubes (also called sugar plums) were a big hit. After lunch, we engaged the girls in a few activities such as; walking with a book on their head, practicing setting the table for a formal dinner, and giving statements as to what they learned. And last but not least was our graduation ceremony, in which the girls did a curtsey after they received their diploma's. We had a pretty good day!!
